The handsome groom, looking immaculate in his tux, is waiting for her at the altar. The bride resplendent in her gown and lace trimmed veil, her eyes shining as she walks down the aisle, her hands shaking as she hold a bouquet of pristine white roses, obvious to the admiring looks of the family and friends. Everything seems perfect....

Whoa - hold it! Before you can envision yourself in such a scene, let's go back to reality first. Planning a wedding can be tiring, exhausting...hard work.

Okay, do you want to have a church wedding or have it solemnize in the place where you first met? How about an en grande reception? Or maybe a simple salu-salo? Is it okay to have 12 ninongs and ninangs or would a pair do? Where do you want to have your gown/tux/barong Tagalog made? Giveaways? Oh, there are so many things to do, so many places to go...

That is why in this age of technology and convenience, we present to you some ways to save time, and achieve the worry-free wedding of your dreams.

Wedding WWW's

So, you can now announce to the world (literally) your wedding, and that is by posting it through the internet. But how and where do I start realizing the dream? There (is a wedding site) on the internet that understands your needs and would be a big help in preparing for the big day.

Weddings-Work. This site is being managed by husband-and-wife team John and Bennette Rana. W-W is the most comprehensive site on weddings. Aside from providing directories of suppliers (such as caterers, designers, travel agents), there is an interactive section on Philippine wedding customs, tips on how to beat the traffic, bulletin board on bridal events, and even real-life love stories. As WW author Bennette Rana puts it, "We are a resource center on the Web which helps soon-to-wed couples." What makes the page doubly interesting (and educational) is its being interactive. There is the WW chat where users can exchange ideas on how to plan their weddings; of course there is the
WW e-group where users can register and can e-mail one another with their stories, updates, and plans---wedding concerns. Bennette adds, "This is different from other sites' mailing list where their subscribers only get an e-mail monthly on news and updates." She beams at the fact that they get 10 to 50 e-mails daily, "And if the topic is really hot or interesting---even 100 a day!" Aside from all that, the Ranas would plan eyeball meetings where the bride-or-grooms-to-be members, plus John & Bennette, would meet and get together. They usually have such meetings during bridal fairs.

Worried about marriage legalities? Not that they overlooked it, but they decided not to post the info since each ceremony and/or venue requires a different set of requirements, but they consult with their lawyer friends and seek postings from the e-group members as well. Want a more practical wedding or too busy to go around? Bennette advises them to join the WW message board. Furthermore, the suppliers of the members are not the common or popular names that are being published on bridal magazines. "The feedback they give are so honest since they are brides themselves and not in any way connected to the suppliers." The site has members who splurge at their weddings and those who have very small budgets.
