But don't leave it all to chance. Take positive steps to find that someone.

Falzone noted, “They say love is blind. What we also have to remember that love is ageless. You can find love at age 18, 32, 49 or older. Being uptight about not having found someone by a certain time in your life is not going to help.”

Finding that special person that gives you what you need, takes three basic ingredients:

• A positive attitude. No one really appreciates pessimism.
• A realistic set of expectations. People can't be perfectly “cookie cut” from a machine. Everyone has faults.
• A willingness to give feedback and be open and honest. Give people a chance and the benefit of the doubt. Don't disregard the person for superficial reasons such as how they sound on the telephone.

Desperation is never attractive. Single women and men beyond their 30s who have spent many years carving a career may panic because they thought they would be “settled down” with a partner and possibly children. One of the worst things folks can do to themselves is dwell on it. It's counterproductive and does more damage to the psyche than good. Take some kind of control – as you did with your career. If you don't have a hobby or interest that gets you out of the house and into ‘circulation', you should find one. Don't leave romance all to chance. Just get out there and have some fun.”

Beware of online dating and chat rooms. A large percentage of people using online services misrepresent themselves in looks, age and marital status.
