LOVE TAKES FLIGHT THIS VALENTINE’S DAY AT American School of Aviation

San Jose – Forget the flowers, the chocolates or the expensive dinner at a crowded restaurant. Sweethearts can take their love to new heights this Valentine's Day with his-and-her introductory flying lesson at American School of Aviation, located at Reid-Hillview Airport.

Through the national, nonprofit BE A PILOT program, American School of Aviation is offering a first flight lesson for just $49, about half the cost of a typical lesson. To register, simply go to www.beapilot.com, download an Introductory Flight Certificate (or two), and present it at American School of Aviation. Your loved one, or even the two of you, can take a lesson while actually piloting the plane alongside an FAA-licensed instructor.

“Imagine the thrill on your sweetheart's face when he or she pulls back on the yoke to lift off and soar over the countryside, and the smile you'll see when your Valentine arrives back in your arms after the flight,” says Reny Kozman. “And then, it's your turn. The shared experience could well become a new passion.”

Reny Kozman says that women frequently purchase flying lessons for their boyfriends or husbands; but that more and more men are sending their girlfriends and wives soaring.

“Regardless of gender, flying is fun, exciting, and just about anyone can do it. And like anything else, it's even more fun when you fly with that special someone,” says Reny Kozman. “As a Valentine's Day gift, nothing else even comes close to the experience.”

American School of Aviation is one of more than 1,950 flight schools nationwide participating in the BE A PILOT program, which has been helping people fly for career, business and recreation for six years. This year, learning to fly takes on special meaning as the nation celebrates the 100th anniversary of powered flight. If Orville and Wilbur were still around, it wouldn't be surprising if they, too, decided to forgo the chocolates for the gift of a Valentine's Day flight.
